18-year-old Bailey Spinn is far from your average teen. Besides attending San Diego State University for college, she’s a TikTok star with over 1.1 million followers! She started off like many on the app, posting videos just for leisure. This all changed when a POV comedy sketch of hers went viral-- since then, Bailey has gained nearly 52 million likes on TikTok and a growing social media presence! The social star remains incredibly thankful for the support given during this journey. “Everyone in my personal life is extremely supportive of my TikTok career and I am so grateful for it,” she said. “I am so blessed to have them accept me with open arms, and to not judge me based on what’s on the internet!” We recently spoke to Bailey about her first viral TikTok, a dream collab, and more!
Let’s start with telling us a little bit about yourself and why you joined TikTok.
My name is Bailey Spinnenweber and I'm a 18 year old freshman at San Diego State University! I love working out, trying new foods, and hanging out with friends! I originally started TikTok just to make fun videos with friends, but that all changed when I saw a POV on my for your page!
What is the first video that you credit with jumpstarting your TikTok success? What has changed most since then in regards to your content?
The first video I would credit my success to is the POV, “you can taste whatever your soulmate tastes”. I had seen someone do it on my for you page and I thought it was pretty funny, so I made my own video! That video ended up getting 100k views, which was a lot for me at the time, so I continued to make more! After I kept posting, my account just kept growing and growing and I found a new love for making soulmate POVs! My content has nearly stayed the same, but my creative ideas and passion for my videos has definitely improved their storylines!
Who are you teaming up with in a dream TikTok collab and why?
My dream TikTok collab would have to be making a video with youtuber Amber Scholl! Her content and vibrant personality has helped me through so many difficult times in my life, and I would love to meet her one day! She is incredibly kind and seems like an exciting person to be around!
What are some of your favorite hobbies outside of TikTok? How have you incorporated such hobbies into your content?
A few of my hobbies outside of TikTok are working out, skating, and fashion! In my content, I found a way to incorporate some fashion elements into not only my POVs, but into new videos! I also use my passion for working out to show others that bettering yourself and your own mental health is crucial to maintaining a solid workplace ethic and a happy life! I love to use my platform to help others find something that brings them joy, and it’s an honor to be able to share mine with them.
Describe your TikToks in three words.
Absolute hopeless romantic
If you could have one super power, what would it be and why?
I would definitely pick the ability to teleport! Not only would that make transportation so much easier, I would be able to help others quickly, and be wherever needed whenever needed! I also would choose teleportation because I would be able to go back to my house at any time to see my family and cats who I love so much!
1 million is no small achievement. What do the people in your personal life think about your social media success?
Everyone in my personal life is extremely supportive of my TikTok career and I am so grateful for it! My parents were definitely a little confused at first, but once my sister explained it to them, they welcomed my new job with open arms. My dad was super interested in finding out more about what I do and how it works, which I value so much for his support! My friends also are a little astounded by my TikTok fame, but they still love me and understand why I do it! I am so blessed to have them accept me with open arms, and to not judge me based on what’s on the internet!
Can you share a memory that would’ve never been made if it hadn’t been for your social media success?
One memory that would have never been made if it wasn’t for my social media success would be going to LA and meeting creators who I had been watching for a long time! I got to make so many new creator friends like Brooklynne Webb and Emma Norts! The whole trip was so new for me, and I loved making new memories with people I never thought I'd be in the same room with! That trip also taught me a lot about myself, and how I could better my content to pursue this career into the future!
Who do you owe your biggest thanks to?
I owe my biggest thanks to my manager, Temima! She has helped guide me through the process of being an influencer and is always so kind with what she asks of me! She helped me with time management, content creation, and organizational methods that I now use in my everyday life! She clearly has a passion for what she does, and her guidance helped to bring back my love for making videos!
