55 Easy No-Bake Recipes For Kids (Healthy Snacks & Treats) (22)

These cute apple monsters are sure to get kids excited, both to make and eat and are a great way for older kids to practice their knife skills.

Cut the apples for little ones and then provide a slice of strawberry (tongue), sunflower seeds or mini marshmallows (teeth) and peanut butter to hold it all together. Finish with candy eyeballs. Such a fun no bake idea for the classroom for little monster-lovers and perfect for Halloween.

Rice Cake Flowers

55 Easy No-Bake Recipes For Kids (Healthy Snacks & Treats) (23)

Here’s a chance to get creative using a rice cake as a blank canvas on which to build a flower from fresh fruit. Start by spreading the rice cake with yogurt or a smooth cheese, on top of which the fruit will stick.

My kids used sliced strawberries, grapes and bananas, as well as blueberries, sultanas and homemade chia jam. They sprinkled chia seeds on the top which look like the flower stigma or anther, or possibly pollen? (My flower knowledge is rusty…)

A fun kid-friendly no-cook recipe for the classroom that’s cute and delicious!

Simple Deli Meat & Salad Roll-Ups

55 Easy No-Bake Recipes For Kids (Healthy Snacks & Treats) (24)

If you’re looking for an easy savory no-cook recipe for the classroom to teach kids how to make a healthy meal, tortilla roll-ups are the answer.

Provide sliced ham and cheese and then a variety of salad fillings such as cucumber, tomatoes, peppers, olives and mayo. Include new and interesting ingredients that the kids may not have tried to encourage them to experiment.

Then it’s a case of placing their chosen ingredients on top of a tortilla wrap and rolling it up as tightly as possible. Ingredients do need to be cut into thin slices in order for the wrap to roll well.

Once done, we like to cut the roll-ups into slim bite-sized portions, and hold them together with tooth picks or thread them onto skewers. An easy, delicious and healthy no-cook snack or meal!

Savory Sandwich Skewers

55 Easy No-Bake Recipes For Kids (Healthy Snacks & Treats) (25)

Here’s another simple savory snack idea that allows kids to pick and choose their ingredients. Kids can each make their own mini sandwiches, choose and cut (supervised off course!) some vegetable chunks, before threading onto a skewer.

Cookie Or Cupcake Decorating

55 Easy No-Bake Recipes For Kids (Healthy Snacks & Treats) (26)

Not as healthy, but cookie decorating always goes down a treat, and not just at Christmas. It’s a regular at our house for playdates and parties! All you need are some store-bought cookies or cupcakes, icing and sprinkles.

If you want to ensure it’s a proper cooking activity, make the icing from scratch. All you need is softened butter (a warm classroom or sunny spot will do the job) or a soft baking margarine, icing sugar, vanilla extract and a lot of elbow grease!

Try this buttercream recipe which uses a wooden spoon instead of a mixer. Or bring in an electric hand mixer from home if you can for the kids to have a go with.

They’ll also love adding food coloring and then spreading onto their cookie or cupcake before adding sprinkles and other decorations.

Chocolate Milk

55 Easy No-Bake Recipes For Kids (Healthy Snacks & Treats) (27)

Ever met a child who doesn’t like milk or chocolate? Try this easy chocolate milk recipe for a fun cooking activity in the classroom, it’s sure to go down well. Use almond milk for those with allergies.

All you need is a mason jar or similar and some measuring spoons, along with the 4 simple ingredients (milk, maple syrup, cocoa powder and vanilla extract). No blender needed, simply shake everything up in the jar and you’re done.

What a lovely way for kids to learn how to make their own delicious and healthy drink!

Strawberry Banana No Blender Smoothie

55 Easy No-Bake Recipes For Kids (Healthy Snacks & Treats) (28)

Yummy smoothies are another fantastic way to create a nutritious drink and snack for kids. We make plenty at home with our Ninja blender, come soup maker, but you can make them by hand too, as I found out when the Ninja had a breakdown….

To make it without a blender all you need is very ripe fruit mashed, some other pantry staples, a screw-top jar and plenty of elbow grease! Here’s a tutorial from wikihow with step-by-step instructions.

For a simple no-cook recipe for the classroom try 2 cups strawberries, 1 cup banana and 1/2 cup each of yogurt, milk and ice cubes.

Simple No-Bake Cooking Activities for Toddlers

Here are some eays no-bake cooking activities for toddlers to do, with a little assistance of course! These use pantry staples that appeal to young taste buds, so they’ll be quick to gobble them up after. Easy no-bake toddler snacks for when your little one is hungry and you need something in a hurry.

Sweet Flower Skewers

55 Easy No-Bake Recipes For Kids (Healthy Snacks & Treats) (29)

Cute, simple and full of goodness, these flower skewers have been a hit with my kids, whether big and small, both to make and eat!

Fill mini sandwiches with your toddler’s favorite filling (cheese/jam or peanut butter/jam are our go-tos) and thread onto skewers with grapes, strawberries, blueberries – whatever you have to hand.

A fabulous no-bake toddler snack that always goes down well at parties too because they look so divine!

Ants On A Log

55 Easy No-Bake Recipes For Kids (Healthy Snacks & Treats) (30)

Here’s another way to dress up healthy and nutritious ingredients and appeal to your toddler’s imagination. Fill the inside of a celery stick with a soft cheese or peanut butter and top with a line of raisins, and, voila, you have ants on a log!

Banana Yogurt Popsicles

55 Easy No-Bake Recipes For Kids (Healthy Snacks & Treats) (31)

This is such a fun no-bake cooking activity for toddlers who can practice cutting, mashing, mixing and pouring. As long as you don’t mind a little mess! But what activity involving toddlers doesn’t involve mess?!

Banana is such a lovely soft fruit for them to learn to cut with. I like using plastic salad knives when teaching my little ones to cut for the first time. The cutting is just for the fun of it though! Because then it’s time to mash the bananas with a potato masher. Add a dollop of yogurt, mash some more and then pour into popsicle moulds.

Pop in the freezer, ideally overnight and a tasty snack awaits your toddler (and you!) the next day. Such a fun cooking activity and nutritious no-bake recipe for kids.

Pizza Bagel

55 Easy No-Bake Recipes For Kids (Healthy Snacks & Treats) (32)

For a more substantial snack for your toddler, turned sliced bagels into mini pizzas. Start by toasting the bagel (that part’s for mom) then the kids can load with their toppings of choice.

Then pop them in the microwave (fun button pressing activity for little ones!) to melt the cheese and other toppings. The result is a fairly soft “pizza” easy for little ones with no or few teeth to eat.

This is such a simple cooking activity that allows toddlers control over their food and a great way to encourage creativity in the kitchen. The result: a tasty and quick snack for kids of all ages.

Microwave Pancakes

55 Easy No-Bake Recipes For Kids (Healthy Snacks & Treats) (33)

Pancakes are a favorite in our house and whenever I make them the kids are hovering around the hob with me as I cook them, such is their excitement and impatience. It’s not ideal! Then I discovered you can make them in the microwave.

This means they can each make their own in safety which they absolutely love and it makes a fun cooking activity for toddlers, with a helping hand of course!

All you need to do is measure and mix the ingredients into a smooth batter in a small microwave-safe bowl. Then cook on medium until risen. They aren’t as good as the real thing (they’re soft and a little stodgy, in my opinion!) but the kids hoover them up in minutes, and that’s all that matters.

I use this easy microwave pancake recipe from Mornflake which uses oat flour, self-raising flour, milk and yogurt.

Eton Mini Messes

55 Easy No-Bake Recipes For Kids (Healthy Snacks & Treats) (34)

In case you’re not familiar with the term “Eton Mess”, let me enlighten you. It’s a summer British classic and, while it looks a little fancy, anyone can throw it together in minutes. Including your toddler, with a little assistance.

The classic Eton Mess recipe consists of crushed meringue, whipped cream and strawberries. However, I like to switch the cream for thick Greek yogurt, which I’m much more likely to have. Fresh strawberries rarely make it to the fridge in our house, in which case I reach for my mixed berry chia jam (recipe on it’s way!)

So pick and choose according to what you have available. Just mix it all up in a bowl and spoon into cups, for toddlers, or glasses for those able to handle them.

No-Bake Cooking Activities for Preschoolers

More no-bake cooking activities, this time for those a smidge older at the preschooler age. A little more skill and/or maturity is needed, but older and younger kids can help too, just with different levels of involvement.

Pear & Apple Nachos

55 Easy No-Bake Recipes For Kids (Healthy Snacks & Treats) (35)

Slicing pear and apple is a great cooking activity allowing preschoolers to practice and refine their knife skills. I help them get started by cutting the core out and sometimes by peeling too.

Then arrange around the “nachos” around edge of a plate and wack a load of Greek yogurt at the center for dipping. We also like to add a dollop of homemade chia jam if there’s any to hand, as you can see pictured.

Drizzle with honey or maple syrup and top with sliced almonds and a sprinkle of raw chia seeds and it’s time to eat!

Blueberry Pops

Threading is great fine motor practice for preschoolers but it doesn’t normally result in a tasty and refreshing no-bake snack! Thread fresh blueberries onto a skewer, lay on tray lined with parchment paper, pour yogurt over the top and freeze for a couple of hours.

Humous

55 Easy No-Bake Recipes For Kids (Healthy Snacks & Treats) (36)

Humous is such a nutritious snack, with its fiber and protein-rich chickpea base. It’s easy to buy in the store, but making it is a fun no-bake cooking activity for preschoolers and bigger kids too. They can measure out the ingredients and will, obviously, love pressing the buttons on the blender!

Chocolate Microwave Mug Cake

55 Easy No-Bake Recipes For Kids (Healthy Snacks & Treats) (37)

I love a quick microwave mug cake when I have a sweet craving and minus 5 minutes to spare! Now my kids are old enough to make them themselves and even for me (if only occasionally). There are plenty around, but I like this simple recipe from Janes Patisserie which only has 6 ingredients, ideal for kids!

Cucumber Sushi

Scoop out the soft middle of the cucumber and fill with cream cheese, yogurt or nut butter, slithers of carrot and pepper, sweetcorn and other veg. A fun and creative no-bake recipe for kids who can practice cutting the veg using an appropriate knife and packing the cucumber with their chosen fillings.

Chocolate Apple Pops

55 Easy No-Bake Recipes For Kids (Healthy Snacks & Treats) (38)

If there’s chocolate involved, most kids are going to be there in seconds! Simply slice up apples, skewer the end and dip in melted chocolate. And no licking! Not yet.

Next add toppings such as sultanas, chopped nuts and sprinkles and cool and harden in the fridge. A heavenly no-bake cooking activity for preschoolers! The hardest bit will be waiting for them to set…

No-bake Cookies, Bars & Balls

There are so many delicious no-bake snacks and treats in the form of cookies, oat bars and energy balls or bites. Energy balls and bites tend to be packed with healthy, yet high-calorie ingredients, such as oats, nuts and/or nut butter plus honey or maple syrup, then rolled into a ball. Hence their name. But flatten into a bar or shape like a cookie, and you have a no-bake bar or cookie!

Nearly all of these no-bake treats and snacks are made using the same methodology, which starts with melting and mixing. So then, of course, in the absence of baking, you need to cool and chill the cookies/bars/balls to allow them to set.

So, although they don’t require the use of the oven, you will need a microwave and fridge as a minimum OR a decent blender for these no-bake snacks and treats – they’re not all strictly no-cook recipes.

Most therefore also need time! They’re perfect as afterschool snacks for kids, but best when made way before afterschool hunger hits…

Here’s a simply delicious no-bake sweet potato treat packed full of nutrients – the kids will never know they’re eating veggies for dessert! It’s lightly spiced with cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg and sweetened with maple syrup.

If you already have cooked sweet potato on hand this easy dessert will take a few minutes to whizz up in a food processor. Otherwise, you’ll need to cook them first (10 minutes of simmering is my preference if I need mashed sweet potato for a recipe).
